For Shannon it was home away from home.
For me, I was a lot of time sitting and waiting and impatience.
Today, this is still Shannon’s home away from home-She would sleep in the stables if we let her!
For me, I have learned to love coming here, appreciating the peacefulness, enjoying hearing and feeling the galloping of horses, relaxing and reflecting.
But most of all, I love the Shannon who has grown and matured and has learned so much here.
It has been nothing short of a miraculous transformation.
Cher, you are an amazing woman and my family will be forever changed because of the blessing of you and what you have created!
We love you!”
We have tried many types of programs in the area an could not find one that could connect with him.
Bringing him here I have seen a change in him in many ways going from anger to happy, expressing himself and his feelings. Learning to laugh, smile more, giving hugs, also playing well with others, not getting in trouble in school anymore and I now see his grades improve.
Today was extra cool!
I got to see my son work with a horse in front of me.
I only hope he knows how proud of him I am and how far he has come.
From starting Sadles his goal is working with animals and kids.
He enjoys every time he comes and waits for every Tuesday at 3:30, jeans on, ready to go.
I can’t wait with time passing how much he will have improved from where he’s been to where he is today, to where he is going.
Thanks to SADLES program I know you have changed my family’s life.
Thanks for the life boat.
My heart has found pleasure in finding, working with the SADLES community.
The therapists in the community welcomed me with open arms from the very begging.
My first encounter brough me empowerment, wellbeing and a happiness in sobriety I’ve never felt or known.
They work together with the horses to help heal the spoken and unspoken traumas and trials we find on our journeys of life.
I’ve never felt as elated and joyous as the day that I bonded with my horse.
The earth, sun and moon fell into place.
When I let myself grow and develop the way the horses, therapists and land taught me.
I have returned every week since and plan on coming back when I am out of treatment and fulfilling my ways to recovery”
Today, my plan to have a water balloon fight is being stalled by rain, but we are going to get wet anyway so I don’t see the problem.
I got so excited when we saw a snapping turtle and was having a good time with “B” when we were making songs about cereal and making animal noises!
I cherish every moment with Dunny because I need to.
It is (day hasn’t ended) been an awesome day.
You brought encouragement and inspiration to us all.
We are looking forward to the monthly support groups and team building activities under your leadership.
You inspired us to care for ourselves so that we can care for others.”
It was difficult to trust the horses from past experiences but now I know I love them.”
The farm setting, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life is very calming.
Cher is very confident in her counseling of children.
Keep up the good work.
Each time, Michelle found her emotional needs being helped, while learning, growing stronger.
She became very fond of Rey, an experience like (sausage and gravy over a biscuit) after a dreary day.
T’was soothing to a restless and hurting person lost for the moment.”… Dorothy
I tend to be very pragmatic and not as 'sensory tuned in'.
My first visit with my 10 year old niece I was moved as we worked our way down the long approach, not sure what the feeling was but very positive and calming.
My niece (who tends to be very private and not speak on feelings) says to me, “I feel like I have lived here all my life”. She had a wonderful expression on her face.
I realized we were someplace very special. Every visit to Sadles has only increased her affection for Cher and the ranch.
It’s been life changing."
we and I come back because the people and surroundings (horses too!) help us center and regain personal focus and strength.
All of the Code H.O.R.S.E. family are inviting and make you feel at home.
The equine therapy is relaxing and teaches you to balance yourself and connect with your horse.
It’s fun, comforting and so many amazing volunteers are there to help guide you.
You can tell the passion that the volunteers have for the horses and your wellbeing.
I am thankful for the opportunity to have been invited with open arms by Code H.O.R.S.E. and OWR family.
While I rode horses a bit growing up, and some while in the Army, I never became vested in riding.
The people at Codehorse made it feel like I never got off the horse.
They remind you of how your mood and feelings can influence the horse, and how it behaves, making me have to relax to get the best results from the horse.
This relaxation allowed the other aspects of the therapy to really take root for me.
More than just therapy though, the whole team at Codehorse made me feel not only comfortable in what I was doing, but they gave me the tools to become more confident is what I was doing.
Their patience, temperament, understanding, and encouragement really set them apart from other organizations.
Additionally, their horses are just as patient and well tempered as the people are.
They feed off your emotions, and respond in kind.
I know the two horses I worked with Coffee and Gunner were simply amazing to work with.
Coffee as the 'Alpha Female' gave me a bit of a 'test' to see what she could get away with.
Nothing dangerous, just a test.
With their encouragement, I passed her test and we quickly established a great relationship.
Gunner is a rather special horse.
He is used for mounted patrol, and has a special gait to him.
Yet he reads off how I rode, and when I wanted to have him move a bit faster while competing in a game, he was more than happy to get going.
All while making me feel more confident in my abilities.
I would not hesitate for moment to work with the people of Codehorse again.
They truly are masters of this craft.
